Timmy Murphy does not expect to return to the saddle before the end of the year.

The Grand National-winning jockey has been out of action since January when he suffered a dislocated shoulder for a second time in three months.

Murphy's damaged shoulder has already been operated on once and Murphy fears more surgery may be needed.

The 40-year-old is due to see a specialist in six weeks when he expects to find out if any progress has been made.

He said: "The shoulder is still the same.

"In another six weeks I'm going back to see them and they will have another look at it and see if there's anything else they can do.

"It's already been operated on once in March but it's very complicated, all the ligaments and everything need to knit together.

"I won't be back this side of Christmas, put it that way."
