Recent rain at Newmarket has dampened John Murphy's enthusiasm regarding the chances of Avenue Montaigne in the Irish Stallion Farms "Bosra Sham" EBF Fillies' Stakes this afternoon.

The daughter of Showcasing wants quick ground to be seen at her best but the going is currently good to soft, soft in places ahead of the Listed affair over six furlongs.

Avenue Montaigne was last seen finishing a close fourth behind Ainippe in a Listed race at the Curragh in August.

"She travelled over well, but I'm disappointed it's rained," said County Cork-based Murphy.

"She needs quick ground to be seen at her best but we're here now and have taken the decision to run.

"Her form is good. She wasn't beaten far by Tommy Stack's (Accepted) at Tipperary and then ran well against Ger Lyons' filly (Anippe) last time out.

"This is a stepping stone as we see her as being much better over seven furlongs or a mile next season.

"We have big plans for her."

Avenue Montaigne faces five rivals, including David Simcock's Terror, who was fourth in the Cheveley Park behind Tiggy Wiggy on just her second outing.
