Good draw for Murtagh runners in Melbourne

Johnny Murtagh's two runners in next Tuesday's Emirates Melbourne Cup have had their chances enhanced by favourable draws.

Leading hope Mutual Regard will start from stall 12 in the 24 runner event while stablemate Royal Diamond will race from stall 6.

The Japanese trained favourite for the race, Admire Rakti is drawn between the Irish pair in stall 8. Admire Rakti is 4/1 favourite having won the main Melbourne Cup trial race The Caulfield Cup.

Mutual Regard who will be ridden by three time winner of the race Damien Oliver is currently a 12/1 chance while Royal Diamond the mount of Steven Arnold is 33/1.

Since the victory of Dermot Weld's Media Puzzle in 2002 from stall 13 all winners have come from the first dozen boxes.
