Peter Fahey will look to the Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown on December 27 as the next port of call for Owega Star.

The seven-year-old stayed on well to be second to Balbriggan in the Troytown Chase at Navan on Sunday, attempting to give the well-backed winner over a stone in weight.

Fahey said: "He ran a great race and the Paddy Power is the obvious next step for him. He was giving weight to the winner and he has come out of the race well, so the plan is to kick on now for the Paddy Power."

He went on: "We will keep him handicapping and he can also go back over hurdles after the Paddy Power. Long term he could go for the Coral Cup at Cheltenham if the ground was soft. He had a good run in it two years ago (eighth to Medinas).

"He was wrong all last season and we missed the best part of his novice career as a result. His last good run was at Cork and then we brought him back and he was only half right. He seems to be back on track now."
