Offers of as high as 9/4 quickly evaporated this morning, about 8/13 shot Dark Alliance and he easily justified the confidence in the Crowne Plaza Hotel Race & Stay Maiden at Dundalk.

Conor Hoban did the honours on Michael Halford's Dark Angel gelding, not seen out since August and debuting on the polytrack, with Shane Foley serving a suspension.

Dark Alliance soon led and he made virtually all, clear from over two furlongs out on his way to an easy four and a quarter length dismissal of Balmont Blast

"He had a little hold up with a shoulder but he's got stronger as the year has gone on," explained Halford.

"He probably won't run again this year. I wanted to get a bracket with him, and get him a bit of confidence.

"Seven might be ideal for him. He has pace and he's learned to settle – he used to race on his nerves a bit."

On upcoming plans Halford said: "I'll maybe send six or seven to Dubai. That team could include Wychwood Warrior (a winner at Dundalk on November 12th) – it might suit him out there."

F.M. Berry, rider of My My trained by John James Feane, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung right at the first bend and didn't move well thereafter.

C.R. King, rider of Inishmacateer trained by Patrick Martin, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung badly left throughout.
