Ex-pointers to note in the coming days are:

Quaddick Lake – would look to hold a favourite's chance in the 7.00, the Echo Arena Club Handicap Chase at Bangor this evening. An impressive winner at Belharbour in 2007, this son of Blueprint makes his debut over fences on the racecourse proper in this extended three miler and though he has to put a below-par effort from last time behind him, it will be disappointing if David Pipe's charge fails to do so.

Billie & Joe Joe two to look out for

A couple of interesting ex-pointers to look out for in the coming days are Billie Beg, who runs at Wexford tomorrow, Friday 6th, in the Rosslare Harbour Handicap Steeplechase and Smokey Joe Joe, an entry for the bumper at Downpatrick on Sunday, the Magnificent Seven INH Flat Race.

The former was discussed here a couple of weeks back and he certainly put up an eye-catching performance on that occasion, also at Wexford, to finish fourth. He has an extra couple of furlongs to go now and that should be all in Billie Beg's favour.

Pointing the way to Galway expenses

Punters keen to build up the bank for next week's Galway marathon would do well to consider some of the ex-pointers due to compete over the next couple of days.

There are plenty who plyed their trade 'between the flags' turning out for the divided Crecora Beginners Chase at Limerick this evening.

If Quarryvale repeats her runner-up placing behind Turtle Gale in a hunter chase at Tramore then she won't be far away in division one.

Nearly 21% of Plate entries are ex-pointers

Sixteen of the 77 entries for the www.thetote.com Galway Plate Handicap Chase have competed 'between the flags' in Ireland though many of them are too far down the weights to have much chance of getting a run.

When one considers that four of the last ten winners of the Ballybrit highlight, namely Ballyholland, Sir Frederick, Nearly A Moose and Rockholm Boy were ex-pointers, a grounding in the nursery of the National Hunt game can serve a horse well over Galway's unique chase track.
