K.C. Sexton, rider of Sir Vincent trained by H.Beggs, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount lost its action and pulled up lame. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Phantasmo, at the request of trainer, John Patrick Ryan, and reported the animal to be lame post race. The Stewards interviewed K.J. Brouder, rider of Barneymac, pulled up, as he failed to dismount after his horse went lame. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that K.J. Brouder was in breach of Rule 272 in that he acted in a manner which was prejudicial to the good reputation of horse racing, and having considered his record in this regard, suspended him for 7 racedays. The Stewards interviewed D.J. McInerney, rider of Dry Run, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that D.J. McInerney was in breach of Regulation 10.3 (f) in that he used his whip with excessive force, and Regulation 10.4, in that he used his whip without giving his mount time to respond. Having considered his record in this regard, the Stewards cautioned D.J. McInerney regarding his future responsibilities.
