Kevin Manning returned to the saddle following his first race accident in the stalls to partner the well-supported Angels Story. The pair took the race by the scruff of the neck turning for home, but were soon strongly pressed by Superius. The two horses quickly put daylight between themselves and the rest of the field and it was touch and go as to which would prevail entering the final furlong. Angels Story saw out the trip in very testing conditions the better and won by ? length.

Aidan O'Brien's well-related newcomer Queen Of The Night was a drifter in the betting, but is very much the one to take out of the race. She is a half-sister to the multiple Group 1 winner Falbrav and she finished strongly to close the gap on the front pair to 4 ? lengths, in the process pulling 11 lengths clear of the remainder.

The Dermot Weld trained runner Winchester did not take part as he was off his feed.
