The Stewards received a complaint from Georgios Pakidis, trainer of Papabili, placed twelfth of 13 runners, that he was unhappy with his rider, C.P. Hoban, in that he did not use his whip once during this race. Evidence was heard from the trainer and rider concerned. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion C.P. Hoban had ridden appropriately at all times during this race, albeit without resorting to the whip, and felt no Rule had been broken and so they took no further action.

An extended handicap for three yrs old and upwards (85 = 10st)
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner to carry 5lb extra for each race won. Any horse rated above 85 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 10st. Subsequently, the excess over 85 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any three year old rated above 85 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
