The Stewards enquired from P.J. Rothwell, trainer, as to why he had fitted blinkers to his charge Laudatory (GB) instead of a visor which had been declared under Rule 194. He was unable to correct this matter which resulted in the animal being withdrawn by order of the Stewards. P.J. Rothwell admitted his error but claimed that he had misunderstood the exact definition of a visor and felt that a half cup blinker would comply with the definition of a visor. Having considered all the evidence, the Stewards fined P.J. Rothwell ?65 for his breach of Rule 194 pertaining to the declaration and wearing of the correct headgear.
