The Stewards received a request from T.J. Nagle Jr., trainer of Vita Nuova, to substitute the nominated rider A. McCurtin, with Andrew Lynch, due to the nominated rider being unable to do the weight. The Stewards allowed the request on the basis that there was not another suitable claiming rider available. Subsequently the Stewards interviewed A. McCurtin. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Rule 195(i) and having considered his clean record, fined him ?150. . R. Loughran, rider of Carrickcloughanboy trained by Thomas Foley, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was pulled up after his saddle had slipped. A. Ring, rider of Hello Humpfrey trained by Peter Casey, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount jumped poorly, never travelled and was pulled up.
