The Stewards requested a report from Garrett James Power, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Curragh Golan, placed first, as compared with its recent run at Killarney 14th July. Garrett James Power reported that his animal did not jump fluently at Killarney in a race run at a strong gallop. He made two mistakes in the back straight and was then pulled up by J. Winston, rider, who felt that his mount had gone lame behind, a matter which was reported to the Stewards on the day. He also felt that the easier underfoot conditions today benefited his charge. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Barney King, trained by John G. Carr, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be in respiratory distress post race. Sabrina J. Harty, trainer of Mossy Island, reported to the Clerk of Scales that her charge scoped wrong post race.
