The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, William Fleming, regarding the failure of S.M. Quinlan, rider of Lady Germany, placed fifth, to weigh in after this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that it was a complete oversight on his part as he was uncertain of his finishing position. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that S.M. Quinlan was in breach of Rule 227 by failing to weigh in and consequently cautioned him concerning his future responsibilities in this regard. In accordance with the provisions of Rule 230(ii), the Stewards disqualified Lady Germany from fifth place.
