The Stewards fined Garrett James Power, trainer, ?350 for lodging a passport in respect of Garri Rua, in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order. M.P. Butler, rider of Dr Waluigi, trained by Eoin Doyle, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran free to the start and was a difficult ride during the race which pulled himself to the front until giving a heave at the third last hurdle. He added that he started his challenge turning into the straight but missed the second last hurdle, took a blow going to the final hurdle which he jumped very tired and plugged on to the finish.
