The racecourse Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Eiri Na Casca, trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, was found to be distressed at the start which necessitated its withdrawal. Subsequently, the Turf Club Veterinary Officer took samples for analysis from Eiri Na Cassa at the request of the Stewards. The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving Crocodile Dundee, ridden by P. Townend, placed third, First To Boogie, ridden by S.W. Flanagan, placed second and Hard Bought, ridden by P.T. Enright, placed first. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge's placings. They did, however, find that P.T. Enright was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly and having considered his record, the Stewards cautioned him.
