The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving Munfallet, ridden by R. Coakley, unplaced, Scorpion Black, ridden by D.A. McCormack, placed fifth and Clueless Hill, ridden by S.M. Crosse, placed fourth. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judges placings and took no further action
The Stewards requested a report from T.G.McCourt, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Highway To Heaven, placed first, as compared with its recent form. T.G. McCourt reported that the application of cheek pieces and a strong positive ride were the contributing factors to the improved run. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report

An extended handicap for four years old and upwards rated 45-65 Weights - Top weight in the original handicap and after the time of declaration shall not be less than 10st 2lbs and the minimum weight is 8st 6lbs Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 6lb extra for each race won.
