Permission was given for Pink Jazz (IRE) to go early to post and mount on the chute.
Further permission was given for Hector Loza (GB) to be led to post early.
An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Pink Jazz (IRE), ridden by Thomas Greatrex and trained by Sean Curran, in which the gelding was ridden handy before being asked for an effort under a hands and heels ride in the straight, finishing ninth of eleven finishers, beaten 6 ¾ lengths.
The rider was interviewed and shown recordings of the race and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding, during routine testing, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The rider stated that his instructions were to jump out and be handy, as that is how the gelding won on its previous run over course and distance.
He further added that the gelding started to hang left halfway down the back straight, which he had reported at scales, but was still happy with his position.
He stated he asked his mount for an effort at the two-furlong marker, where the gelding continued to hang left and struggled to keep his mount straight, he also added that he was worried he was getting tight for room approaching the final furlong where he takes a precautionary ease on Pink Jazz (IRE) before continuing under a hands and heels ride at the one pace.
Greatrex’s explanation was noted.
Following the race, Thomas Greatrex, the rider of Pink Jazz (IRE), unplaced, and Kieran Shoemark, the rider of Hector Loza (GB), unplaced, reported both of their mounts hung left-handed.
