The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Pay Day Kitten (USA), trained by D. K. Weld, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be Report. The Stewards requested a report from David Wachman, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of General Brook, winner, as compared with its most recent run at the Curragh on 25th May where he finished 11th of 13 runners, beaten 31 lengths. David Wachman reported that his charge ran too free at the Curragh on soft ground and stopped quickly. Todays stronger gallop and better ground may have brought about any improvement in form. Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanations offered. P.J. Smullen, rider of Pay Day Kitten (USA), trained by D. K. Weld, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled.

An extended handicap for three yrs old and upwards (90 = 9st 10lb)
Weights - Top weight in the original handicap shall not; be less than 9st 10lb
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra for each race won Any horse rated above 90 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 9st 10lb. Subsequently, the excess over 90 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any three year old rated above 90 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
