I was hanging nicely down the home straight and it was a good job he had the stands' rail because I couldn't steer him and couldn't get a good belt into him. I don't know how well Jack (Kennedy, Crezic) was going but my lad keeps going. In his bumpers all he was doing was galloping and he had some good form. I'm delighted for his owners Padraig Coffey (from Portarlington) and his son-in-law Tadhg Maher (who runs a bar in Lanzarote) as this horse had had stop-starts and gaps between his runs with small issues. D.J. McInerney, rider of Simon's Castle trained by A.J. McNamara, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount made a respiratory noise when racing in the back straight
The Stewards interviewed Denis Gerard Hogan, trainer of Al Sakb (GB), regarding the late arrival of the horse into the Parade Ring. Evidence was heard from the trainer who stated that he had three runners in this race and brought extra staff to the races to ensure that his three charges would be saddled individually and cause no delays. He added that a girth was too small and had to be changed which caused an unavoidable delay. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that D.G. Hogan was in breach of Rule 32(ii) and therefore cautioned him having taken his clean previous record into consideration.
