The Stewards interviewed R. Evans, rider of Lager Time, concerning his use of the whip in this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3(g), in that he used the whip with the arm above shoulder height and having considered his record,cautioned him as to his future responsibilities in this regard. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Lady Ranger, trained by Adrian Paul Keatley, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

An extended handicap for three yrs old and upwards (70 = 10st)
Penalties - -(after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra for each race won Any horse rated above 70 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 10st. Subsequently, the excess over 70 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any three year old rated above 70 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
