UIMHIRACEATHAIR had run an encouraging, if not world-beating, debut at Clonmel recently but put in a much improved effort to skate in here. The winner came home quite strongly under a hands and heels ride and looks a horse worth following over jumps next season. Winning trainer Willie Mullins later reported "he improved immencely from his debut run, handled that ground very well and we'll go for a winners' race next."

ACADEMY SIR HARRY ran a cracker in second. The son of Dushyantor was well back most of the way but devoured ground in the straight, for a never dangerous second. Today's ground was probably on the soft side for the gelding who should take all the beating on his next run.

WEST OF THE BORDER ran a sound race on his debut, and although he had no answer to the winner, he should win races.

LURGAN had two nice runs to his name and again showed that level of form while ANNUAL REPORT and BODALBOY made encouraging debuts.

Non-Runners were Black Danny (stone bruise), Havagoodsip (ground) and the withdrawn Fionn Tra.
