The Stewards interviewed S. Donohoe, trainer, concerning his request to substitute Mr. T. Hamilton, the nominated rider for Sweet Jenny with Mr. M.J.M. O'Sullivan. Evidence was heard from the trainer who stated that he had arranged with Mr. Hamilton recently to ride this filly when she ran at either Roscommon today or Sligo on Wednesday. At the time of declaration yesterday he was unable to contact Mr. Hamilton and nominated him without confirming his availability. At a later stage he learnt that Mr. Hamilton was out of the country. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards cautioned S. Donohoe having taken his good record into consideration and allowed the substitution
Mr M.J.M. O'Sullivan, rider of Sweet Jenny, trained by S. Donohoe, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount clipped a heel and fell before the turn into the straight at a time when the leaders were bunched. In his opinion it was accidental and no other rider was to blame
