Permission was given for Magna Cartor (GB) to go early to post.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching the final hurdle involving Green Or Black (IRE), ridden by Harry Reed and Collodi (GER), ridden by Connor Brace.
The interference was found to be accidental as Reed felt Green Or Black (IRE) lose its action and in prioritising the mares’ welfare, attemped to pull up as quickly as possible and avoid jumping the final hurdle, which resulted in Collodi (GER) being carried off the course.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Green Or Black (IRE) failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Harrison Beswick, the rider of Working Class (GB), placed fourth, had appeared to stop riding shortly before the winning post and was beaten 1¼ lengths for third place.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, Beswick explained that the gelding became very tired in the home straight and having become unbalanced after the course crossing on the run to the line, he stopped riding for several strides to assess Working Class (GB)’s welfare.
He then recommenced riding a finish, by which time Promise Of Peace (JPN) had finished with momentum and gone clear of the gelding.
Being satisfied that Working Class (GB) had obtained its best possible placing, his explanation was noted.
Subsequently, the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination revealed the gelding was displaying a prolonged recovery rate.
