Clara "a lovely" chaser in the making
Chit Chat gives Gigginstown/Cooper a double
Flood/Doyle and Kelly enjoying Peace
It didn't look on paper a real strong race. Zipporah had got a good hike like ourselves and to have the 4lb (in hand) was a help. She needed the 7lb claim today more than the last day,. We wanted to jump out with them, get her going a gallop and then let her lead us. It worked like we thought it might but it doesn't always happen like that. We'll aim for something in a few weeks time. There is a race in Naas (March 12) but it probably comes a bit quick. We'll see how she is but she is tough and likes that ground.
Tough Vendor going the right way
He's a tough auld devil and stays going. Ian said the other horse was a bit quicker over the last but it gave him something to aim at. He loves a good fight and puts his head down and battles. He likes that deep, tacky ground and he seems to like a track with a hill. He was a very slow learner but is improving all the time. He ran in point-to-points and schooling races but it took him a long time to realise what the whole game was about. He saves a bit for himself, and we haven't got to the end of him yet. He's home-bred by Pat McCarthy from Kilcock.
More Goulane success at Clonmel
He'd good form but just lost his way a bit. We decided to take the bull by the horns today and see what he'd do. He deserved one. He went a good gallop on that ground, and had the other horses in trouble. I suppose the end justifies the means!
Deserved win for Glen at Clonmel
The extra few furlongs suited and he deserved that. He was never right last year, and has taken time to come right. It's been three years since he's won, and he might be sold now,.
Liam Quinlan off the mark on the track
