After race at Gowran Park Thu, 24th Jan, 2013 (1st) He's a very good horse,. It was his first time at three miles but I was confident enough he would get it. He gets any trip and has a bit of class. I wanted to get today out of the way and things are in the balance as regards Cheltenham. The lads (Gigginstown) have so many horses so we'll see how things pan out. He jumped his hurdles a bit big the last day but came down today and he's there as a hurdler or a chaser is we want him. I shouldn't have run him after he fell at Naas last year and he wasn't fully ready when he fell up the north but it's easy to be wise after the event. The World Hurdle could maybe be a bit too good for him but the ground is also all important and I wouldn't like to see him run on ground too fast. A J Martin |
After race at Punchestown Mon, 31st Dec, 2012 (1st) I'm thrilled with that. He improved from the north and at Fairyhouse he was good but that was him today and it's great to see,. There was no hiding place for anything there. I'll have a chat with the boys now (owners Gigginstown) and see what way they want to go. It's just great to get a couple of wins with him. I'm just happy to go for something nice after today. We'll see how he is in the morning and week ahead. That's the most important thing as he's had a few problems in the past. A J Martin |
After race at Fairyhouse Sat, 1st Dec, 2012 (1st) that's great I'm absolutely delighted and for the horse more than anything! Davy said he went down like an old pro today . he was only a baby last year. As soon as he jumped the third last he put the race to bed in a flash. We probably should have left him alone after the fall he got at Leopardstown as he was never right after that. Today's win will leave him right to have a go at something better. Ruby (Walsh) told me last year to look after him as I'll never have another one like him. Gigginstown have so much ammunition so Eddie (O'Leary, Racing Manager) and the lads will have to decide where he'll go next. A J Martin |
After race at Naas Sat, 11th Feb, 2012 (1st) I wouldn't be adverse to missing Cheltenham this season as he is definitely a winter ground horse. It was a relief to win - we were gutted at Christmas with what happened (fell at Leopardstown). He had been jumping so well up to that and it's good to get that out of the way with and get him back winning. He got a fair scare at Christmas and it knocked him for a bit. He started back the right way but I don't know where he goes now. He is a horse who I wouldn't subject to running on good ground, he has a real round action. A J Martin |
After race at Fairyhouse Sun, 4th Dec, 2011 (1st) He has always shown us from the first day that he's a good horse. We always knew he could be something special if we kept him right. He just had a little setback early on. I couldn't be more happy with him . he is definitely a Grade 1 horse . he's a proper horse. Every day he runs he gets better. A J Martin |
After race at Navan Sun, 13th Nov, 2011 (1st) He has always shown plenty at home and we have a lot of schooling done with him. Fingers crossed he has a big future ahead of him. A J Martin |
After race at Cork Thu, 31st Mar, 2011 (1st) He always told us he was a good horse but he tends to race keenly and was very free at Navan last time,. I'm not sure if he'll run again over hurdles this season but he'll make a proper novice chaser for next season. Ruby liked him a lot. I said to him that I was surprised when he lined him up at the back but he said to me 'I'll ride them - let O'Leary fly them!'. A J Martin |
After race at Fairyhouse Sat, 1st Jan, 2011 (1st) the only reason I chose to run him in a bumper was because he had a little bit of leg trouble before . otherwise I'd have gone for a novice hurdle because he jumps great. He is a real old fashioned chaser and to win a bumper was a bonus. A J Martin |
