Our editor Vincent Finegan gives his analysis of Sunday's Irish Derby, highlighting a forecast.
The Epsom Derby winner Auguste Rodin looks nailed on to add the Irish equivalent to his CV on Sunday at the Curragh. The son of Deep Impact came into his own over the 1m4f distance at Epsom and there is no reason to think he won't repeat the performance on a more conventional course like the Curragh this weekend.
The Epsom runner-up, King Of Steel, and the sixth placed Waipiro both franked the form by winning at Royal Ascot last week and it will be a major shock if Auguste Rodin cannot confirm his superiority over the third and fourth placed finishers from Epsom, White Birch and Sprewell, on Sunday.
While there is no value backing Auguste Rodin at short-odds to win the Irish Derby, it might be worth chancing a forecast bet on him to win and Sprewell to chase him home in second. Sprewell finished fourth at Epsom, but was a little unlucky in running in that race when encountering traffic problems early in the home straight. The wide open Curragh plains should make this a fairer test and Sprewell can close the seven lengths deficit he has with Auguste Rodin from Epsom without necessarily threatening the favourite.
Money back offers are one of the most attractive Irish Derby betting offers for UK punters. Money-back specials, available with many major bookmakers, will be available throughout the three days of the Irish Derby festival.
How do these offers work? An example would be customers getting their money back should they finish second or third in the Derby and/or big betting races of the meeting.
In addition, best odds guaranteed is a promotion that bettors are able to find online, which ensures that players will not be able to find better odds for their selection for any race during the Irish Derby Festival.
Enhanced odds offers give new customers higher prices on well-fancied horses, with the returns being credited to the new account as bonus cash.

The Irish Derby is the third of five Classics run throughout the Irish Flat season. The competitive nature of the event along with its prestige and history makes it the most sought-after prizes of the season in Ireland. The contest is held at the Curragh Racecourse and is run over an extended mile and a half.
As he gears up to ride Auguste Rodin in the upcoming Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at the Curragh on Sunday, Ryan Moore has praised trainer Aidan O’Brien's exceptional talent, whom he regards as a "genius".
Although O’Brien has won the Classic a remarkable 14 times, Moore is yet to find himself on the winning horse for the Ballydoyle trainer. His closest attempt was with Idaho in 2016, who lost by just half a length to Dermot Weld's Harzand, completing the English-Irish Derby double that Auguste Rodin will be bidding for this weekend.
Auguste Rodin's ability to bounce back following the Betfred Derby at Epsom after finishing 12th out of 14 runners in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket, has once again highlighted O’Brien's special talent, as per account of Moore.
Moore admires O’Brien's incredible ability to prepare and guide his horses to these victories every single year, cementing his position as an extraordinary force in the field of horse racing.
Dylan Browne McMonagle is set to ride White Birch after being called up for the task. Usually ridden by Colin Keane, the talented colt finished third in the Derby at Epsom, behind Auguste Rodin.
However, Keane is unable to participate at the Curragh after he received a seven-day ban at Leopardstown. In his place, White Birch will be ridden by Browne McMonagle, who will have his first ride in the Irish Derby. The Ulysses colt is currently listed at 5/1 odds for the upcoming classic.
While the challenge of reversing form with Aidan O'Brien's Derby winner on Sunday will be arduous, Harrington is in good spirits heading to the Curragh. She said:
“I'm content with his preparation. We've taken our time with him since Epsom and he appears to have come out of it well,” stated Harrington.
The trainer also added that the colt is calm in character which has made it easy to continue his training. Although the final competitors for the race are yet to be determined, Auguste Rodin will be hard to defeat according to Harrington's estimation.
Punters will always find decent value for the Irish Derby along with brilliant betting offers.
This year's Irish Derby looks to be a cracker with English Derby victor Auguste Rodin heading the market. Trainer Aidan O'Brien has not made a secret of how much he likes this son of Deep Impact and he is popular to complete the illustrious Derby double.
