FormscanBy Alan Magee - Gordon Elliott bids to land this race for the third successive year, and the market suggests Dallas Des Pictons is the main fancy with Donagh Meyler a significant booking. The French import beat all bar Wednesday’s Ballymore Novice Hurdle winner City Island in a maiden at the Leopardstown Christmas meeting, and has won both outings since including when upped to three miles in a valuable handicap at the same venue. However I prefer to rely on EARLY DOORS who put in a really solid effort in this race last year. The Soldier Of Fortune gelding had a few runs in Grade 1 company before finishing third to Blow By Blow, and has been given a similar preparation this time around twice running behind Apple’s Jade. He took the runner-up spot albeit at a very respectful distance in the Christmas Hurdle at Leopardstown, and one suspects this has been the plan for some time. Daybreak Boy is rated in the high 90’s on the Flat and, with plenty of jumping experience under his belt, looks an interesting contender on his first handicap hurdle start.
