His only previous win was in a flat maiden at Lingfield in July 2015 and while he was then rated 96, that rating has fallen over the years and he now possesses a flat rating of just 50. However he has been doing most of his recent racing over hurdles and comes here a proven performer in handicaps hurdles and a reproduction of his latest effort at Fairyhouse, when the winner won again some days later, might suffice in this ordinary contest. My Manekineko has been an admirable servant but the five-time winner's previous win was back in May 2016. He has been running well over fences in recent times and while rated 3lbs lower in today's hurdles sphere, his latest handicap hurdle runs have been underwhelming and might bump into one or two too strong here. Fight For Love ran with promise two starts ago at Fairyhouse and while he disappointed at Thurles subsequently, should be able to get involved today if returning to his best form. Empire Burleque is the most interesting runner being a point-to-point and bumper winner on his initial runs. His form has been in-and-out in subsequent times but did run well when third in a useful handicap at Punchestown in January. However he was the subject of an IHRB enquiry when withdrawn from Tramore on August 18, six days after a similar withdrawal from Ballinrobe, again due to lameness. Connections at Tramore opined that 'the animal would free up prior to racing' but IHRB nonetheless again ordered his withdrawal. He reappears following a 152 days absence today and while clearly capable of winning from 104, has plenty to prove.
