The son of Beneficial made a winning debut for connections in a Fairyhouse bumper, and the ground was also testing when he won a three-mile maiden hurdle at Cork last year. He was only edged out close home in a staying handicap chase at Kilbeggan earlier this summer, and was again close up at that venue last time when falling at the last in the beginners’ event won by Westland Row. Aherlow also has a three-mile Cork maiden hurdle to his credit and looked the type with the scope to do well over fences. He was placed once in four chase outings last term behind Moonshine Bay at Thurles. Aasleagh Dawn had just the one chase start last term but comes here fit from hurdling.
