FormscanBy Donal Murphy - ALTIOR is unbeaten in his last twelve starts and is difficult to look beyond. His trainer Nicky Henderson raised concerns about his participation on Monday morning, after the gelding was found to be lame. Hopefully all will be well with the son of High Chaparral come 3:30 on Wednesday, and if he does show up here he should be able to deliver. Min was beaten by the selection when they met in the Supreme Novices here in 2016. He has since won four of his five starts over fences, surprisingly losing his unbeaten record over the larger obstacles at Leopardstown on his penultimate start. He did bounce back to winning ways at the Dublin Racing Festival, but it might be telling that Ruby Walsh has opted to ride stable companion Douvan. Douvan went off the 2/9 favourite for this contest twelve months ago, but he could manage only a very disappointing seventh. He was later found to have sustained a small stress fracture in his pelvis, and it'll be very interesting to see how he gets on now. Special Tiara of course won here twelve months ago, but has failed to follow-up in four starts since. He does however have a good record in this race, and he should be able to make his presence felt. Politologue is another with solid each-way claims, while it'll be interesting to see how Ar Mad fares in first time cheekpieces.
