FormscanBy Tom Weekes - One of Michael O'Leary's last, if not the last, four year old purchases was UHTRED prior to making his fine winning debut at Fairyhouse in April and the smart prospect can get off the mark on hurdles debut and reappearance run. UHTRED ran in the colours of owner Annemarie O'Brien when winning at Fairyhouse but was reported to have been bought by O'Leary's Gigginstown House Stud in the days before the race, which in turn was a fortnight before O'Leary's May 13 announcement to quit racing. UHTRED looks a horse of potential, the form of that Fairyhouse bumper has worked out very well (the runner-up and third both won their next starts) and he is sure to be well schooled with a big run very likely. Front View is himself a useful prospect and should benefit from his recent debut hurdle run. He showed a good level of ability in bumpers and while he was no match for Envoi Allen on their respective reappearances at Down Royal, that rival is a top class prospect and he should get involved at the business end here. Jon Snow is another obvious danger and while his latest run was 544 days ago, Clonmel's fixture on Thursday provided a stark reminder of his trainer's ability to win with horses on reappearance (cf Vis Ta Loi and Douvan). Jon Snow raced three times on the flat in his native France, winning at Maisons-Lafitte on his last start and while his absence is a concern, his French form was on easy ground and he might have had to wait on the side-lines due to fast ground last term, as a young 4yo. Texard has already run twice over hurdles in France this summer, finishing fourth and third respectively, and has since been bought by leading connections and can play his part. Pienta was useful on the flat but looks vulnerable to smart types.
