FormscanBy Mark Nunan - SIR DRAGONET, fifth but beaten less than a length in the Epsom Derby when last seen, drops to ten furlongs for the first time as he bids to resume winning ways. Very impressive over a mile and a half on easy ground in both his maiden win at Tipperary and the Chester Vase, he lacked experience when sent off 11/4 favourite at Epsom, but he was there fighting it out inside the final quarter-mile before having to give best late on. He might come on a bit for today’s outing after a lay-off since June 1st, but he has a nice bit in hand of his six rivals on paper. Buckhurst was a good second in the Gallinule Stakes before going one better in the Group 3 International Stakes on Irish Derby day, and is very much going the right way. He was taken out of Royal Ascot because of soft ground, so the forecast overnight rain won’t be welcomed by his connections. Guaranteed is holding his form well and made Latrobe work for vicory at Leopardstown last week, but Leo De Fury was well beaten when up in grade at Goodwood and Tetrarch Stakes winner Shelir (by Dark Angel) will have his stamina tested.
