He may not have beaten the winner anyway, who looked a class apart then, but did finish off well and is entitled to be a big player now. Hannibal Barca made a nice start for Joseph O'Brien when taking the Group 3 Gallinule Stakes here last month and could be a bit of a dark horse stepping up to a mile-and-a-half for the first time now.
