The Martaline gelding is a half-brother to useful hurdler French Dynamite and justified favouritism in a bumper at Punchestown in March. Those in behind haven’t advertised the form but he could well improve with a hurdle in front of him. Stablemate The Greek is experienced and consistent over hurdles but has been a beaten favourite five times in a row in maidens and looks vulnerable to something unexposed. Smart Flat performer Onlyhuman was placed in two runs over hurdles last year but much will depend on how fit he is after fourteen months off while Luke Short has also shown plenty of ability on the level and has more recent placed form in this sphere. The pick of the latter’s form is on top of the ground, though, and he won’t have such conditions here.
