FormscanBy Donal Murphy - Gordon Elliott has unleashed some top-class performers in this race over the years and was successful twelve months ago with subsequent Cheltenham Festival winner Sir Gerhard. Elliott, who saddles AMERICAN MIKE, is in fact bidding to win this race for the seventh year in-a-row. An easy winner of a point-to-point at Cork in April when trained by Sean Doyle, the selection then changed hands for 195,000 pounds. His dam American Jennie was a likeable performer for Michael Cullen, winning at Grade 3 level over fences, while also finishing third in the 2007 Irish Grand National. Champ De Gane is the clear danger for the Crawford's. A good second on debut over the course and distance in May, it'll come as little surprise if he manages to go one place better now. Royal Romeo is from the family of Grade 1 winner Mariah Rollins and it'll be interesting to see how he fares on debut. Galway runner-up Cocoplum is sure to have plenty of supporters, while For The Cause is another with each-way claims.
