FormscanBy Tom Weekes - MOUNT IDA is a useful recruit to hurdling and might prove good enough to win on seasonal reappearance. She ran very well on hurdles debut, albeit over a longer 2m6f trip, at Punchestown in February with the winner, third and fourth horses all winning subsequently and she herself won a useful bumper at Wexford on her next start, beating subsequent dual bumper winner Uisce Solas into second. MOUNT IDA seems versatile trip-wise and should go very well on her second hurdle start today. Kalanisi Og won on debut at this meeting last year, interestingly The Caddy Rose finished 8L fourth, and while The Caddy Rose subsequently seemed to improve, there might not be much between Kalanisi Og and the selection today. Kalanisi Og then returned following a near year layoff when seventh in a Listed bumper at Gowran recently and is sure to be well schooled for hurdles debut today, with some improvement from her recent outing also possible. Fag An Bealach won well on debut at Down Royal last March and while she disappointed at the Punchestown festival subsequently, she should win races over hurdles and has a chance today. Kilcarry View was the unluckiest loser of the decade when losing a maiden hurdle at Sligo in August as her rider weighed in 1.1lb light (therefore 0.1lb under-weight) but faces a tougher task today.
