Nigel Slevin’s runner was a 20/1 chance for his hurdling debut then, and ran a cracker to go down by only a length and a half to the experienced Room To Roam. He’d also shown ability when second in a bumper over today’s trip at Wexford, behind Celine Soprano who went close to defying a winner’s penalty here on Tuesday. In all likelihood Baboin is a lot better than he showed last time, having won his bumper at the May meeting here and been second in a maiden hurdle at Cork last year when in the care of Paul Nolan. Nonetheless, he needs a big turnaround in form relative to the selection and is no better off at the weights. Pat Neville always has his horses primed for this venue, and Sticky Situation is a solid each-way play having been placed four times in maiden hurdles, including twice here. Brawler can’t be dismissed either, having won on the Flat for Andre Fabre,and run with credit on both starts over hurdles
