Top weight Aussie Valentine won two of these contests last month and subsequently went down by a pair of short-heads in a valuable handicap at Leopardstown only last week. Running off the same mark of 90 he would appear to have strong claims again but this one mile trip may prove inadequate on a sound surface. Monkeylou won well on debut at Listowel last year but disappointed on both outings since when fitted with a hood. The hood is dispensed with today which may be of significance. Arthurian Fame is very difficult to assess. He ran reasonably well in two heavy ground maidens before getting off the mark with the minimum of fuss in a moderate three runner contest. Hard to know if a mark of 86 accurately reflects his ability but the percentage call is that the drop in trip (all previous runs over 1m2f) is not a positive. The remaining four runners are all rated 80 but RIONACH is the one that is on an upward curve since switching stables. The application of a first-time hood had the desired result last time and with similar ground and trip today she should again be competitive with the Champion jockey aboard.
