FormscanBy Tom Weekes - CAREFULLY SELECTED could kill two birds with one stone by winning this and thus qualifying for the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham. A high class bumper and hurdle performer, he has done little wrong in winning both chase starts todate and should be able to give away 6lbs and win today, over a suitable trip. Today's race fits neatly in his Cheltenham schedule but connections will nonetheless have fingers and toes crossed for a clear round as he jumps through the hoops in search of a first-four finish in a chase over 2m7f to qualify for the National Hunt Chase. Ronald Pump has met Cheltenham qualification criteria for the Pertemps Final and could also have the National Hunt Chase as an option, pending a clear round. He is a proven stayer and while he was found wanting in the Drinmore Chase in November, should still give the selection a race today and is open to more improvement at this trip. Spyglass Hill was well beaten by Ronald Pump in November but improved when running a very solid race behind Bapaume at Naas in December. That form now looks notably strong with the third, fifth, sixth, seventh and 14th each winning next-time, and Spyglass Hill could get involved for the runner-up spot today, as he too is open to more progression. Elwood is another staying type and while his stamina helped him win at Thurles 16 days ago (the leader also fell at the second last), he needs to improve further to win. Forza Milan is useful but also needs to improve to win. Small Farm was in contention when falling at Punchestown last month but faces a much stiffer task tough.%0A
