He won his only French bumper start last April and while well enough beaten on both his Irish maiden hurdle starts, his latest run in a hot maiden hurdle at Leopardstown on St Stephen's Day was a useful effort and the step up in trip today could bring about some more improvement. Village Mystic has a terrible history of long layoffs and having made a winning point-to-point debut in Britain in February 2015, has since returned from absences of 357 days, 741 days and latterly at Naas, returned following a 701 day absence. His history of training issues will always be a concern but he did run a very solid race at Naas recently and if able to progress from the run, should be well capable of giving the selection plenty to worry about. Last Minute Man is himself an 8yo and while he comes here in good form as a useful horse over this trip and ground, is vulnerable to smart types. Young Ted stays well and brings useful handicap form but is absent since last May and has been beaten in three previous maiden hurdle runs and appears the yard's second string.
