FormscanBy Donal Murphy - I'll take a bit of a chance on HAWK EYE DOWN in this wide-open contest. The son of Bach won a point-to-point at Ballinaboola on his penultimate start, before putting in an eye-catching performance at Limerick last Friday. He plugged on nicely in testing conditions to finish third at Greenmount Park, and the step up in trip here to two mile six should play to his strengths. Jeannie Cook, who was aboard the selection at Ballinaboola, is reunited with the eight-year-old bay, and she takes a valuable seven pounds off. Handicap debutant Kickham is an interesting contender for Gordon Elliott and Jack Kennedy. This five-year-old son of Presenting hasn't shown much to date, but an improved performance can be expected from him now off a mark of 93. Fellow handicap debutant Floramar won a maiden hurdle at Downpatrick in September, and he is not without his chance with Ricky Doyle aboard. Some of the more obvious contenders are recent Thurles winner The Church Gate, Down Royal runner-up Pack Your Bags (first time cheekpieces), the Oliver McKiernan trained Glenabo Bridge, and the ten-year-old Western Goose.
