FormscanBy Eamonn Murphy - Derby de Thaix comes to Joseph O'Brien like stable companion, Vieux Morvan, from M L Bloodstock Limited, having raced in France. If Derby de Thaix does as well as Vieux Morvan (5th in the Paddy Power and 2nd in the Leopardstown Chase) since arriving in Ireland, he'll be doing alright, and the sire Coastal Path has been in the news lately. Willie Mullins and Harold Kirk gave 290,000 pounds for a son of his during the week, point-to-point winning Asterion Forlonge. Kirk mentioned afterwards that the sire was an influence in the purchase, as they have a couple of horses in the stable (including Bacardys) by a stallion that's well-respected in France. For the purposes of putting up a selection here though, I'll take a chance on DIS DONC over Pallastor, Antey and The Holy One. It's never a bad idea to have Noel Meade on your side at this venue, and Dis Donc would be a deserving winner now with three second placings to his name. They've dispensed with the hood on the Kingsalsa gelding now.
