FormscanBy Tom Weekes - BEACON EDGE makes his jumps debut today but looks the type to do well having shown smart form in bumpers last season. He made a winning debut at Ayr for Nicky Richards in October 2018 and then ran two very good races in Grade 2 and Grade 1 bumpers in February and May. His latest, in Punchestown's Champion Bumper, was a fine effort and while his lack of previous jumping experience is a negative, he makes his maiden hurdle debut at the 'correct' stage of the jumps season, suggesting his preparation may have gone well. Shanroe himself showed smart bumper form in winning three bumpers earlier this year. He is clearly a very capable type but also makes his jumps debut on his own return to action and faces a tougher opponent than when winning his three bumpers. Ego Des Mottes, in contrast, has recent jumping form to his name and has winning French form, which was also a little inconsistent. He won three bumpers in France, either side of a pulled up effort in a Grade 1 Bumper and also has hurdle and chase experience to his name. He disappointed on Irish debut at Galway last month but does drop back in trip today which could see him in a slightly better light. The Very Man disappointed on his latest bumper start at Fairyhouse in April but had previously appeared a very useful type. He has winning point-to-point to his name and could go well on his reappearance today.%0A%0A
