FormscanBy Tom Weekes - ARD NA CARRAIG has won just once since his point-to-point days but was narrowly touched off at Limerick latest and has solid claims of going one better today. He is a useful summer performer and while his only win was gained in a Downpatrick chase last September, he returned to form at Limerick latest when beaten just a nose. He has been raised 4lbs for that run but today's rider (who was unable to do the weight and was a late change-of-rider at Limerick) takes off the full 7lbs meaning he effectively races from the same mark as at Limerick, giving him every chance. Give Battle has been running fine races in defeat in recent times and while he is still a maiden after 20 races, looks likely to win quite soon. He is officially 3lbs well-in today and has obvious claims in first-time cheek-pieces. Benefit Run is another with his chance and while he won just an unplaced horses' maiden here last month, has been handed a workable mark of 97 on handicap debut. Atlas might be stretched by today's 2m1f trip being a miler on the flat, but he has shown some bits of hurdles form and comes here clearly fit and well.
