FormscanBy Tom Weekes - ALPHA DES OBEAUX gives away weight here but might prove the solution. A smart performer on his day, he has run well on his two starts this season and while he won the 2017 renewal of the Clonmel Oil Chase at Clonmel, ran another solid race when second in last week's renewal of the race when giving weight to the winner. He comes here in good form, is a course and distance winner and will be nicely suited by today's trip and sound surface. Valseur Lido is himself a Grade 1 winner over fences and while he carries bottom weight here and is the top adjusted rated runner, is now without a win since November 2016. His rating has been on the slide since missing exactly a year to December 28 2017 and he also lacks a recent run. Eight Till Late has been an admirable performer in his career thus far and while he has plenty to find at these weights, does come here fit and well. He will appreciate today's sound surface but, being a two-mile specialist, is largely untried (he run twice at this trip over two years ago) over this trip.
