FormscanBy Tom Weekes - Barry Geraghty returns from injury here and the Grade 3 contest is the first time DAVIDS CHARM runs in a non-handicap Graded race and he looks good enough to win. From his controversial debut run, he has shown smart ability and continued his progression with another fine win in the Listowel Hurdle last month. His rating has now risen to a career high mark of 150 and with trip and ground in his favour today, he looks good enough to confirm previous form with Geraghty’s mount Ballyoisin. The pair have met twice in the past, both times in the Listowel Hurdle in 2018 and 2019 and while Ballyoisin (who is slightly more effective as a chaser) finished ahead in 2018, DAVIDS CHARM reversed the placings last month and in any case has approximately 7L to hand on adjusted ratings for each of those two meetings at Listowel. Petit Mouchoir is a previous dual Grade 1 winner back in 2016/17 and while he ran well at Punchestown last May, doesn't quite seem the force of old. That said, eight of his last nine starts were at Grade 1 level (his other run was at Grade 2 level) and a reproduction of his most recent Punchestown form in May would give him every chance dropping markedly down in grade today. Winter Escape has don every well for Aidan Howard but was reported to have burst a blood vessel at Leopardstown in February and subsequently disappointed twice in Grade 1 races. He comes here on a retrieval mission and connections will doubtless be happy with an encouraging reappearance run. Plinth (winner of this race, run as the Grade 2 Istabraq Hurdle in 2015) isn't the force of old while Like An Open Book should struggle to win and connections will be hoping for a black-type placing.
