FormscanBy Tom Weekes - CALLE DU MESNIL is a hopeful pick to win on debut for Willie Mullins, despite having not raced during the past two seasons. She was unplaced in three three year old bumpers in 2015 before showing good ability in hurdles in 2016 and has since joined Mullins. Her last race was when second at top jumps venue Auteuil in April 2016 and while her huge layoff is a concern, it could be notable that Mullins has opted to wait until this new season to use her novice status for the season ahead. Philip Rothwell's Fiveaftermidnight does have the advantage of race fitness and while she showed nice ability at Ballinrobe last month, is clearly vulnerable to a smart performer today. Sweetlight D'oroux was one of her trainer's horses withdrawn when reported coughing on May 6 and today returns having run well enough at Limerick in April. She too needs is vulnerable to smart types but does have sound place claims. Kilbarry Angel has shown ability but might also struggle to win today.
