FormscanBy Donal Murphy - SOLE PRETENDER gets the nod in this decent contest. The Norman Lee trained gelding is the youngest of these at five, and has the most scope for progression. He won well on his seasonal reappearance at Ballinrobe earlier this month, and this looks an ideal stepping stone for the son of Gold Well. Monotype won this contest twelve months ago, and is back to defend his title. He has been campaigned over fences since, and might need this run to get his confidence back, after falling on his most recent outing at Navan. Henry de Bromhead saddles three of the ten declared, with the 130 rated Three Stars appearing the best of them. The nine-year-old hasn't managed to win a race since October of 2016, but was a good second to Tombstone on his most recent outing at Leopardstown. Like An Open Book appears to be progressing of late, and she is another with solid claims.
