After he won a Rathcannon point-to-point in October the man aboard there, Derek O'Connor, said: "I ended the day on a good note riding Johnny Sue to win the six-year-old maiden for Willie Murphy. You wouldn't expect much from a horse of this age with limited experience, but I liked him a lot. He had one run in a maiden hurdle in 2015 but then had a setback and didn't appear again until having two more track runs last spring. Willie has been very patient and it looks as if that is paying off. He could make up for lost time. Johnny Sue is a son of Alkaadhem who stands at Willie's Ballycurragh Stud. The sire gave him a massive success at the sales last season when Global Citizen made 275,000 pounds after winning a point-to-point at Bellurgan." Meanwhile Murphy stated: "He had a good run as a four-year-old but has had a few setbacks with injuries. He would prefer better ground and will probably stay pointing for the time being. I am delighted to be able to give Donie (O'Toole) a winner as he is a local supporter of mine." Meanwhile after his Lingstown victory the County Carlow operator commented: "He's a nice horse and I actually think he is very good."
