Flynn hoping for Plate success with Bahrain

Pat Flynn does not expect Bahrain Storm's inexperience over fences to be a problem when he goes for glory in the www.thetote.com Galway Plate.

The eight-year-old won the Galway Hurdle at the mid-summer festival in 2009 and booked a return trip with an good display at Killarney on yesterday evening.

The gelding has had just four starts over fences but Flynn believes he possesses all the attributes to make his mark on July 27.

"Things went very well yesterday and it was a prep race for the Plate," said Flynn.

"I ran him back over two miles to sharpen his jumping up a bit and I thought he jumped impeccably.

"He's an excellent horse. As well as being in the Plate, he's also in the Galway Hurdle, which he won a couple of years ago, but it's 90% likely he'll run in the chase.

"If Overturn happens to come over and run in the hurdle, then we could put a claimer on our lad and get in on a nice weight, so that could tempt us. We'll see.

"We're keeping an open mind at the moment but we're very, very happy with him. He's out this morning in the field and you wouldn't know he'd had a race.

"It's not easy to win the Galway Plate with a novice like him, but he's a forward horse and he's a very clever horse. He just flicks over his fences."
